born May 12, 1916 at St. James Parrish, London, England. He came to New York, America in 1842 left for
Spain from where his wife was origine. In the early 1850s he returned to the States. With his brother
John he created the Tifflin Gas Works, Tifflin, Ohio as well as gas works in Lafayette, Indiana about
1852, the Hamilton Gas Light and Coke Company, Hamilton, Ohio in 1855 and the gas company in Springfield,
Ohio in the late 1850s. During the time he was also an independent machine tool salesman. He was pushing
the production of the Cosmopolitan and Gwyn & Campbell carbines.
